Meet Kelsey Dunlap! She is a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold medalist and a USDF Certified Instructor through Second Level.
How I got started in Dressage: I started out as a Pony Clubber in Iowa and Evented through Preliminary before catching the Dressage bug. I was lucky enough to land at a Grand Prix trainer’s barn in North Carolina as a teen. I had never seen FEI Dressage before then, let alone sat on anything with more than a leg yield.
I wanted to become certified because: I believe it is important for Dressage professionals to meet a standard and become certified.
What I learned from the program: I learned to become more structured and clearer during my lessons and rides and would recommend prospective instructors study the training scale front and back!
My horse: I currently have a young horse I bought as a three-year-old that I took to the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions (five-year-old division) and to the U.S. Dressage Finals presented by Adequan® (1st Level) this year – I’m excited to continue developing him.
