Unsung Hero: Joe Furtado

Nominated by: Macenna Furtado

Describe in detail what contributions to the sport or the dressage community makes this person an Unsung Hero.

My dad doesn’t know much about equines, but he does everything for me and my horses. He will let me talk about horses and the horse world for hours. He’ll drive me anywhere and everywhere to train, including 2 hours everyday. He has sacrificed so much to buy the horses I need, and always stays super positive. He has wiped my tears when my horse had to be retired.

What motivates him to make these contributions?

His love for horses and I.

How long have you known him and how did you become aware of their efforts?

Since I was a baby!

How long has he been involved in your group or the dressage community?

For about 16 years

How would your group/events be impacted should he be unable to play their role?

I don’t think I’d be able to show up or show everyday.

Provide a brief biographical description.

My dad is 52 years old and adopted me when I was 16! He’s been in my life since I was a baby
