Every fall, each of the nine USDF Regions hosts a Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional Dressage Championship, presented by SmartPak. These championships are a yearly goal for many competitors. From beautiful, premier farms across the US, to showgrounds so large they once hosted the Olympics, take a virtual tour of the venues for the upcoming 2023 regional championships.

Region 1 – Virginia Horse Center; Lexington, VA – October 5 – 8, 2023
Situated on a large, beautiful plot of land in Lexington, VA, the Virginia Horse Center (VHC) kicks off our list of regional championship venues for 2023. With 600 acres holding nine show rings, eight schooling rings, a 4,000-seat coliseum, eight barns, a cross country course, a tractor pull area, campgrounds, special event spaces, and full café services, the VHC offers a safe, diverse, and exciting facility for all types of events throughout the year.

Region 2 – Lamplight Equestrian Center; Wayne, IL – September 21 – 24, 2023
As one of the country’s most beautiful equestrian facilities, the incredibly charming Lamplight Equestrian Center is the premier horse show facility of the Midwest. Located on 55 acres, the showgrounds are landscaped with thousands of trees, perennial gardens, and flower-lined walkways. Dedicated sand and rubber walking paths for horses lead the way to barns and arenas. The main arenas feature individual pavilions offering excellent viewing for spectators. The Ringside Café and Hitching Post Bar, with indoor and outdoor seating, offer food service and catering and are perfect for hosting any event.

The Florida Agriculture Center and Horse Park is a 500-acre, multipurpose facility and one of Central Florida’s premiere venues for equine, agricultural, educational, and sporting events.

Region 4 – Maffitt Lake Equestrian Center; Cumming, IA – September 28 – October 1, 2023
Located in Cumming, IA, Maffitt Lake Equestrian Center regularly hosts both hunter/jumper and dressage shows throughout the year. Maffitt Lake is 25 minutes from Des Moines, with numerous hotels, restaurants, and shopping located near the facility. Owned by Tim and Libby Maffitt, the facility boasts 197 permanent stalls in four barns, four large competitions arenas, two large warm up arenas, vendors, a permanent concession stand, coffee shop, and sponsorship camper parking.

Region 5 – WestWorld of Scottsdale; Scottsdale, AZ – September 29 – October 1, 2023
Situated on 386 acres in Scottsdale Arizona, The Tony Nelssen Equestrian Center features the climate controlled 120,000 sq. ft Equidome and amenities to match, while The Arenas are ideal for all breeds and disciplines within the equine industry, including Rodeos, Bull Ridings, and Western Themed Special Events.

Located in Sherwood, OR, DevonWood Equestrian Center revolves around dressage. This family owned operation was founded in 1998, and offers boarding, training, several yearly clinics, and multiple USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competitions every year.

Region 7 – Murieta Equestrian Center – ; Rancho Murieta, CA – September 21 – 24, 2023
Privately purchased in 1982 by George Fuller, it took three decades to fulfill the dream of becoming a premier, upscale show facility in Rancho Murieta, CA. In 2007, the facility was restructured with the West Coast Equine Foundation to create a top-notch team and what guests see today. It is one of the largest privately-owned equestrian event facilities in California (featuring 3,000 seats for spectators) and holds western & english competitions throughout the year.

Region 8 – HITS on the Hudson; Saugerties, NY – September 21 – 24, 2023
HITS on the Hudson is located in the heart of the Hudson Valley in Saugerties, NY, just two hours north of New York City. It boasts 14 permanent barns with 1,100 stalls and 19 rings. This facility is most known for its hunter/jumper shows, and produces three of the richest grand prix show jumping competitions. In addition to horse shows, HITS Entertainment is responsible for other sporting events, concerts, consumer shows, and community events throughout the year on its 375-acre complex.

Region 9 – Great Southwest Equestrian Center; Katy, TX – October 5 – 8, 2023
With over 70,000 class entries per year, this busy facility is located in Katy, TX. In addition to their dressage shows, the Great Southwest Equestrian Center has many breed shows, jumper shows, and other equestrian events. The venue, which was founded in 1986, sits on 65 acres and boasts 650 permanent stalls and 500 temporary ones.
