USDF was excited to launch one of our newest educational initiative, the USDF Book Club! This program encourages members to expand their knowledge in various areas of dressage, foster a sense of community among participants, and engage in discussions on the selected books with the authors. Read on to learn the five most important things to know about this exciting program.

Books will be discussed on a quarterly basis

The working group behind the new Book Club will select four books per year for participants to read and discuss, with the schedule being announced at the end of the preceding year. USDF and the Dressage Radio Show podcast will work with the authors to plan the discussions, which will take place both on the podcast and in live webinars. After a webinar has been completed, the footage will be made available on the USDF website for on demand viewing.

Participants can earn education credits towards their USDF University transcripts

It will be possible to earn education credits in a number of ways through participation in Book Club activities, starting with attending the Book Club webinars. Following each webinar, quizzes will be released pertaining to the subject matter of the books and the discussions that take place on the webinars. Members are encouraged to listen to the relevant Dressage Radio Show episodes, as well. Listeners can earn credit for doing so by emailing the keywords provided in each Book Club episode to bookclub@usdf.org.

USDF Members will receive a 20% discount on books purchased through Trafalgar Square Books

USDF and Trafalgar Square Books are working together to make Book Club an affordable program for members to participate in. USDF Members will have access to a code that provides a 20% discount when used on orders directly from Trafalgar Square Books. This code applies to all books sold by TSB, not just those chosen for Book Club, and can be accessed on the Book Club page of the USDF website once logged in.

GMOs and USDF Regions have a chance to win a prize for member participation

USDF will offer an annual award to the GMO and Region with the highest percentage of member participation in Book Club. Prizes will be funded through commissions earned on books ordered through Trafalgar Square Books using USDF’s affiliate links. Affiliate links are posted for each book on the Book Club web page, so be sure to order through these links!

The Adequan®/USDF Annual Convention will incorporate a Book Club Featured Education Session

Beginning at the 2024 Adequan®/USDF Annual Convention, one of the Featured Education Sessions will be reserved for an in-person Book Club discussion and trivia challenge! The author of the final book of each year will be invited to hold the discussion, which will be interactive for attendees and foster the feeling of a traditional book club. The session will end with a team trivia contest on the selected book.
