USDF is teaming up with Dressage at Devon to offer the popular Dressage Sport Horse Breeder/Handler Seminar September 23-24, 2024 for the first time since 2015. All USDF members are invited to attend!
Dressage enthusiasts already know how prestigious Dressage at Devon is; the show has attracted world-class horses and equestrian talent for over forty years. Here is your chance to learn from expert Dressage Sport Horse Breeding Judges and handlers and to practice in the Wheeler Arena before the show even begins.
The seminar features Gwen Ka’awaloa, Noel Williams, Natalie DeBerardinis, and other select breeding and handling experts. The seminar kicks off Monday afternoon with a classroom session, learning the basics of showing and handling. Then the fun starts with a hands-on session to practice with your own horse or a loaner! After some guidance from professional handlers, there will be a mock class for participants to compete against one another. Day one ends with a pizza dinner.
Tuesday morning starts in the classroom with video used to review the mock handling class and a discussion with US breeders. Later that morning the group will head out to observe the first day of the breeding show, showcasing over twenty breeds and horses from foals to five-year-olds. Group leaders will discuss real time handling techniques and participants will test their newly learned skills as they practice judge classes.
The seminar will wrap up with a Q & A session and participants are free to enjoy the rest of the week at Devon.
