Sarah Garn, USDF Administration Director, with one of her rescue dogs, Chaya

Department: Administration

Job title: Administration Director

What is your main task in the office?

I am the liaison to the Executive Board, Administrative Council, Nominating, and Bylaws Committees.

Members may call you concerning:

Governance, Delegate and Executive Board nominations and elections, and USDF governance questions.

How long have you been with USDF?

19 years.

How did you get started?

I was seeking an opportunity to transition from working as a vet tech work to a more administrative role while remaining in the equine industry. I learned about an opening at USDF from the current USDF Competitions Director, Krystina Wright, as, at the time, we boarded our horses at the same farm. I applied and was initially hired as an Administration/Human Resources Coordinator.

What is your favorite part of your job?

The people I work with.

What is your favorite part of USDF?

The desire that members of this organization have to see USDF continue to grow and educate people about dressage.

Share a little about yourself.

I am a native of Lexington, Kentucky, and my equine background stems from Thoroughbred racing. After attending the University of Kentucky for two years, I transferred to Morehead State University and graduated from their Veterinary Technology Program with a degree in Applied Science. Out of college, I worked at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital for several years before coming to USDF. I am most passionate about animal rescue and advocacy. I enjoy listening to true crime podcasts, being outdoors (especially hiking and kayaking), going to concerts, and spending time with my husband and our lively senior rescue dogs.
