We are celebrating the Marvelous Morgan as our April Breed of the Month on YourDressage! We recently asked our social media followers to share a photo of their favorite Morgan or Morgan cross, and tell us a little about them, for a chance to be featured on YourDressage! Throughout the month of April, we will also be sharing stories from folks who love this breed.
Dressage riders who choose a member of this versatile breed as their mounts are eligible for special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards program, as the American Morgan Horse Association is a participating organization!
Just getting started in classical dressage in 2024. Hoping to keep progressing in our journey. The Thin Blue Line.
– Nicki S.-S.I am so excited about my young Morgan Remington Sure Shot! He will be showing this summer with plans to go to Morgan Grand Nationals!
– Cassie B.KTM Eclipse the Wind is a Morgan stallion that has proven his mettle in many disciplines. Since right after Covid he has been a very active competitor in Working Equitation both for his owner Adrienne Dymesich and as a youth competitor. He is entering L3 this year and has done very well in L2 taking 1st and 2nd in zones for his riders and showing particular skill in his cattle work. Eclipse is an active ranch horse working cattle at home and is furthering his career in Endurance riding this year in 50-mile races. With his rider Adrienne he does mounted archery. jumping, historical representations, skijoring, speed events, parades, garrocha demonstrations, liberty, extreme mountain trail, mounted shooting, and the Top Hand Cowgirl Challenge every year. Eclipse is quick to catch onto new sports and is very ratable, collected, and handy enabling him to take on whatever is asked of him. – Adrienne D.This is from days gone by but still my all time favorite horse. Caduceus Herod. – Barb P. Note, USDF strongly recommends all riders wear protective headgear when mounted. My first Morgan cross that enabled me to fall in love with the breed, Magic. Morgan’s are extremely versatile and willing 💙
– Cyarah C.Starberry Coraline… hopefully getting going this year 🤞
– Crickhollow Farm MDTouch of Rum, my PSG mare🩷
– Renee S.I am a sport horse breeder of Morgans, and I attend Dressage at Devon annually with young stock. 2024 I took my heart horse who I’ve raised from birth, showed as a weanling at Dressage at Devon where she was titled the Reserve Grand Champion Pony, and again as a 3yo where she was the only pony and only non-Warmblood in her huge open class and made top six. Spirits Celeste and I took on Materiale this year and brought home a ribbon. She was also the first place Morgan IBC in 2019, as was her half brother Starberry Solstice in 2023, and her first foal Starberry Shamrock in 2024.
– Lindsey B.Immortal Honour (Shamrock Honour x Immortal Command) – Spike. He was bred by Dennis O’Connell back in 2024 to be a pleasure driving horse. We did everything from training level eventing to dressage to hunter paces to beach rides to lots of trail rides. He’s fully retired now due to ringbone but every once in a while I get on to go for a walk around our fields. He’s the type of Morgan you can point and shoot and he’ll do anything for you. – Mary J.Hazelrun Fly on has shown USDF second level and WDAA level 3 with numerous high points and breed awards in both
– Cassie B.Starberry TimelessClassic posing with his blue ribbon at 2021 Dressage at Devon – Lindsey B.Windfield Isadora at NEDA spring 2024 competing at first level where she took home a first place ribbon

As a four year old she was AMHA 2024 World Champion Training level 71.562 average) and World Champion Basic level (74.1345 average) – Gia L.This is BlueandWhite Fleet (Marvel) 2014 mare. Currently going Training level moving up to First level for 2025. USEF Reserve champion regional TL. MDA schooling TL Champion. MHCWS TL Champion all in her first year of showing. Bred by Joanna Kelly, by GKB Coal Magic, out of BlueandWhite Elite. We are so proud of our girl! Shown by my trainer and friend Helga Van Doorn.
– Pam R.-M.While we have been very successful in the Morgan Hunter Pleasure division, we are now venturing into the Dressage world with the help of Karen Fulcher Mindset Equestrian! Marnos French MysteryCH (2004 Morgan gelding)
– Sheila E.This is another one of my great schoolies, this is White Out CH. Another grand Morgan with success in many disciplines over his career, he now shines in Second Level and has high hopes for bringing his kid to a Bronze
– Deanna L.Primal Thunder, sire of Spirit’s Celeste, at Dressage at Devon in 2018 – Lindsey B.Pop Art, Morgan Grand National Hi-Point 1st Level Dressage. Bred and trained by Caitlin Novotny, she’s a little red rocket 🚀❤️
– Hunter N.Myself and Two Brook Georgianna, fondly known as “Georgie”. Georgie was given to me in 2018. She had never set foot in a dressage ring until my ownership of her (she did Morgan breed shows prior), and we proudly made our way up to second level (she helped me earn a score towards my bronze medal) until an unfortunate injury last summer. Georgie has received several awards including: AMHA Bronze Medallion, USDF All Breeds Reserve Champion First Level, AMHA Open Competition Champion First Level, and the Morgan Dressage Association Reserve Champion First Level. She also has her USDF Certificate of Performance at First Level. All of these awards she won at 24 years old ❤️She has an incredible heart, and always tried her best for me in and out of the ring. Now we get to enjoy her semi-retirement on the trails 😊 – Anna P.Here is Up-Hi Santana showing that dressage doesn’t need to be so serious in a Pas De Deux at National Dressage Pony Cup. Santana is a wonder horse, earning our USDF Bronze Medal with Distinction and multiple other championships. Yet, he can still pop off the trailer and gallop the fields, has cruised around Mackinaw Island, and is always safe and willing. Best horse ever, best breed ever!!!
– Jennifer K.My 6 year old Morgan RG Chief Red Cloud is a working western bred gelding who has been loving his time in the Dressage world! Showing 1st level and hoping to dabble in Western Dressage this season as well. I love seeing all of these successful Morgans, such a testament to the breed. 💛
