We are celebrating the Sensational Saddlebred as our June Breed of the Month on YourDressage! We recently asked our social media followers to share a photo of their favorite Saddlebred or Saddlebred cross, and tell us a little about them, for a chance to be featured on YourDressage! Throughout the month of June, we will also be sharing stories from folks who love this breed.
Dressage riders who choose a member of this versatile breed as their mounts are eligible for special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards program, as the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association is a participating organization!
Fabulous Lad ♥️ starting his second year of dressage training after being a saddleseat and fine harness horse. We are both loving our new discipline!!
– Jessica L.I Am A Believer Too, aka Franklin, doing intro with his trainer. He loves snuggles, hacking, and fruit roll ups. Erin Gilmore photo – Joanna F.Winter Noon(Little Man) won All breeds his first year showing, qualified and competed in Regional Championships, and has also earned Reserve Champion All Breeds at a higher level, and earned Saddlebred Select Gold level. He’s working on Third Level for our USDF Bronze Medal.
– Debbie G.My new young American Saddlebred, just starting our dressage journey, Rumble In The Bronx (Leonard). He is so willing, engaged, level-headed, loves people and learning new things… just a super fun and kind young horse to bring along.
– Joan G.My 9 year old American Saddlebred gelding Mojave Kiss (Liam), with my trainer Samantha Radesky riding. – Red RiverI am the proud owner of CCR Valentino Gold aka Copper. Isabella Rodwig rode him at his debut show winning a first and two reserves. Copper is just a four yr. old and looking to do very well in this discipline.
– Barbara G.My Dutch x Saddlebred cross young mare, The Gentleman’s Daughter. Her first time trotting undersaddle! I just love her, she’s so smart and willing and learns things so quickly. Very excited for our future together.
-Kendall S.My 18 yrs young ASB, it’s cosmo time aka bubs at a local schooling show. He makes me want a million of them. We’ve been on our dressage journey for 10yrs now and he tries so hard he will give me 100% of himself every ride. He was actually supposed to be my saddleseat country pleasure horse, but we both didn’t like it too much and decided to try dressage and here we are 10yrs later. – Heather O.Camelot’s Hot Shot Firecracker in his first year working at intro; Marie Cobb photo
– Katherine C.Full saddlebred broodmare Broadways Hot Crystal has produced many dressage offspring. – Bailey Ranch BreedersThe late The Hangover. We got to third level before he had a career ending injury. Good looking and good thinking. Got him as a two year old out of Kentucky
– Tamara S.My mom (Patricia Whitener) and her beautiful NSH gelding, Jack.
– Elise B.My first American Saddlebred that I rode in dressage, Revelations First Prophet (Will), who I got my Bronze medal on and played in Working Equitation. He was so much fun, safe, and kind.
– Joan G.This is Cat On Fire (aka Bugzy, aka Bigtime Bugzy, aka the bestest big orange horse). 2024 All-Breeds champion (1st and 2nd level), 2024 ASHBA emerging sporthorse of the year, 11th at the 2024 Region 3 Championships, and now fully qualified at 3rd level for this year’s regionals. Oh, and he’s only been showing since December 2023! Marie Cobb photo
– Isabella R.Just finished my bronze 🥉 with my 10yo Wine-N-Dine 😍 – Ruby T. Read about Ruby and Wine-N-Dine’s early partnership in From FEI Young Riders to Adopting an American Saddlebred: Reflections from Year OneRo & Me’s Master of Illusion, “Louie” showing first level a few years ago. He not only did dressage, but also low level eventing, hunters paces, lots of trail riding, and babysat my daughter through her early riding years. An absolute gem of a horse. Sadly lost him last year.
– Leah M.Nautica, my long-time best friend and convert from saddle seat. He’s 19 this year and attempting Third Level. He fractured his sacrum in 2015 and we’ve been using dressage as physical therapy. Never did we expect to make it this far! Read more about Sheila and Nautica in “Nautica’l” Adventures! My darling boy! Thank you so much for featuring him here 💛💛💛 Over 20 years ago, my first saddlebred inspired me to pursue dressage with this fabulous breed. Due to life circumstances, my first recognized show wasn’t until 2023. Making up for lost time, Paddyngton’s Golden Glory (Teddy) has secured my 1st and 2nd level scores for my Bronze Medal and my 1st level scores for my Bronze Bar 🩰🧸🩰 I met him as a barely started 3 year old colt, and he has become a wonderful partner. We earned a Top 10 finish at Regionals last year, and Teddy has received multiple All-Breed Awards and Performance Certificates from USDF, along with numerous Regional and National honors from ASHBA. With his sweet temper and spirit, I feel like we can do anything! 🦄 #sharethesaddlebred – Valyn D.
