Submitted by Nadege Labrecque: This is Prodigio MVL, who was imported from Monte Velho Equo-resort (Portugal) as an eight month old colt! He is an incredible stallion with an amazing temperament, and will be showing Third Level in Canada this summer. He will be in Florida again next winter with our amazing rider, Béatrice Boucher!! 😍
This month on YourDressage we are highlighting the Lavish Lusitano!
We recently asked our social media followers to share a photo of their favorite Lusitano or Lusitano cross, and tell us a little about them, for a chance to be featured in an upcoming gallery or to share a story about their partnership with the YourDressage community.
Maverick Wright and all four of his ponies (listed in order of height – Windstar Flash (Welsh Pony), Maple Lane Kero (Welsh Cob), Quiero KD (Lusitano), Fahrenheit SVS (Hannoverian)) passed the jog at the Ginny Rattner Memorial Dressage CDI. They had a 1920s themed jog and social afterwards so Maverick went for practical yet themed outfit 🙂 I think he nailed it! – Kenton W.This is my lusitano Otelo CLB. I found and bought him when he was 4 turning 5 from Vitor Silva’s Sons of the Wind – Classical Dressage School & Lusitano Sales He’s now 8 and we are schooling PSG! He truly is the most trusting, personable, sweet and loving guy. He tries his heart out always and i have loved creating such a strong bond and partnership with this guy. ❤️ – Allie S.Here is my new partner Prisma Da Ferraria. He is a 7 year old gelding and the sweetest boy ever! I just imported him from Coudelaria da Ferraria farm in Portugal in February. – Debbie N.This is my 15 year old Luisitano mare, Baronne De Massa. I’ve had her for 1 year and recently purchased her. Imported from the Massa farm in France, she is a safe, patient, and very talented horse. B is trained to GP and is teaching me to be a better rider. – Debbie F.Some of the best horses come in plain brown wrappers. This is one of our spectacular lusitano mares who consistently out produces herself by making good moving and personable babies; including a revised stallion 🙂.

Here is my Lavish Lusitano, Icaro DC. After riding warmbloods my entire life, Icaro is my first experience with a Lusitano! I am now a huge fan of the breed! With the kind, willing, attitude and comfortable gaits for my aging body, I am so glad that I discovered this wonderful breed!! Video credit Celia Jansen. – Annie C.
Qantor D’Iberyn – just arrived from Europe- he’s 6 years young and we are working on developing our partnership step by step every day. He’s a dream come true for me ❤️ – Rebekka S.Our beautiful 18 year old school master with my son. He’s a wonderful Lusitano gelding who embodies the heart and spirit and reliability of the breed. We’re so grateful to have Desejo in our herd. When he’s not being ridden, he’s the “uncle” and pasture mate to our yearling filly. Always the perfect gentleman providing care and guidance. – Melissa A.This is my 6 year old Quilate. We are approaching our training slowly and are showing at training level. He’s the first to greet you at the gate, and is the friendliest horse I’ve ever met! He has been such a gem at helping me regain confidence and I’m so lucky to have him as my partner. – Sally L.DEM Lancelot, my new partner, is a 14 yo, 17 h gelding. Currently showing at training level as he is transitioning from WE – he’s a joy and super comfortable! – Launi M.The best horse in the world, beauty and grace . Our Lusitano “Jeronimo” and Vitor (of Vitor Silva’s Sons of the Wind – Classical Dressage School & Lusitano Sales) schooling on a beautiful afternoon in Merrimac farm back in 2024. – Marie-Pierre B.Joao Ratao, a true ambassador for the Lusitano breed. He loves his job, people, he is very baroque and forgiving. He takes care of me every day. He is my heart horse! Linsay Barnard photo – Trish D.This is my heart horse Pasador DC. He is 7 now and I found him as a 4 year old. I didn’t ever think I would be riding again at my ripe old age but he is a wonderful brave and gentle boy. He is now schooling 3rd level. He is a smidge under 15 hh and that is perfect for me. I have my friend to thank for finding him and encouraging me to buy the Lusitano that I always wanted. Kristie Scholten photo – Roxanne N.
