I couldn’t help myself, and blurted aloud the first thing that came to mind: “Well that’s an interesting cross!” I was immediately embarrassed by this seemingly rude comment. Without skipping a beat, my trainer spoke up and said “He’s a nice looking horse, you just never know.” Little did I know what life had in store for me.

The rain was still coming down hard during our warmup and what we could do in the footing was limited. So, when they called for the tests to restart, I had no expectations of riding a good test.
