In this new series, Spotlight On, we will be featuring and exploring the many USDF programs available, specifically the lesser known and underutilized opportunities of which members can and should be taking advantage.
Originally launched in 2021, the USDF Online Video Portal provides a unique opportunity for riders, owners, trainers, breeders, etc. to receive feedback on their young horse prospects from the USDF Sport Horse Development Forum Faculty. This faculty consists of industry leaders in assessing, developing, and training dressage prospects. Current faculty members include Scott Hassler, Willy Arts, Michael Bragdell, and Craig Stanley, all of which will participate in providing feedback through the portal.
Who can submit?
ANYONE! This amazing opportunity is open to anyone: riders, owners, trainers, breeders, etc., all regardless of membership status. In support of USDF’s mission, this portal provides an invaluable opportunity to provide feedback, but also to emphasize to the dressage community the importance of education and development of young horses.
What requirements are there on submissions?
Eligible submissions are to feature under-saddle dressage prospects aged three or four (as of January 1 of the current year). The assigned faculty member for each submission will provide detailed feedback to the applicant upon review. All breeds of horses are welcome.
How to get started:
For any horse that meets the requirements, an online application must be submitted with the appropriate fee and video. The cost per submission is $50 (USDF member price: $25). Videos submitted and feedback provided may be used in future USDF education materials and products, and all application fees are nonrefundable.
The USDF Online Video Portal is just one of the many sport horse education opportunities and overall online education opportunities available through USDF. To see all you’ve been missing out on, visit the USDF website* now!
