August is Youth Month on YourDressage! From stories about remarkable young dressage enthusiasts across the country to articles about some of the opportunities USDF offers to youth riders, join us all month long as we celebrate equestrians aged 25 and under. They are the future of our sport!
We recently asked our youth social media followers to share photos of them with their favorite horses, and to let us know why they love the sport of dressage. Here, in Part 3, we proudly present a full gallery of photos they shared.

When I first started I was always “I can’t wait to get over dressage and get to jumping ” but over the years I really come to respect and even love dressage as it’s helped me not only become a better equestrian but even help me jump better!! So even though jumping is the “fun part” I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t pushed myself to think of dressage as the equally as fun partSubmitted by Maryelle L. – Me with Arthur WHSubmitted by Stacy C.Submitted by Cam R. – This is my lease horse Lilly, a 21 year old thoroughbred mare. Lilly and I have learned the basics of dressage together, which was quite difficult as Lilly started dressage at and older age and definitely does not have the look or gaits for dressage. We competed at our first recognized show together last year at Lamplight and far surpassed expectations! We won all of our first level classes, earned high point of the class, and junior grand champion of the entire show! I’m so proud of what this mare and I have gone through and even though I have moved on to leasing another horse who can help me move up the levels I couldn’t be more grateful for Lilly and all of the knowledge I’ve gained from her. I still visit Lilly and ride twice a week and now we focus on unlocking her inner thoroughbred by going on gallops out in the fields behind our barn!Submitted by Addy B. – I love dressage because there’s always something to work towards. Everyone (and every horse) can benefit from dressage. I’ve also met my closest friends, and many other great people, through this sport; it’s such a great community! In honor of Ravel's 25th birthday this week, we look back on his and Steffen Peter's accomplishments - culminating in his 2010 Adequan®/USDF Grand Prix Horse of the Year award.
You don’t have to be a breeder to compete with your horse in the USDF Breeders Championship Series! Anyone with a young horse, or a mature mare or stallion, should consider the benefits of competing with their horse in-hand.
