We are celebrating the hardworking Haflinger as our March Breed of the Month onYourDressage! We recently asked our social media followers to share a photo of their favorite Haflinger or Haflinger cross for a chance to be featured in one of our galleries highlighting these hardworking horses!
Did you know that dressage riders who choose a Haflinger as their dressage mount are eligible for special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards program, as theAmerican Haflinger Registry is a participating organization?
Santa Monica of Deer Haven, Third Level, Bronze Medal year. We are working on our Third Level Freestyle this year. It is their wonderful personalities and great work ethics that impress me the most. Love the Haffies!!❤️ – Karen B.Emadora HOF and Sara Schmitt at Spring Fling CDE photo by USA Driving – Davisson M.My other favorite driving picture of Dora (Emadora HOF)! – Kai G.Emadora HOF owned by Sara Schmitt (photo by Susan Stickle) showing Third Level at Global Dressage Festival. “Dora” has helped two riders achieve scores for their USDF Bronze Medals as well as competing at the Intermediate Level in combined driving. – Davisson M.Adrenaline Rush SBF he was the 2017 FEI Pony National Champion. He had a heart of gold and showed lots of ponies that they had what it took to be a dressage horse! He was my heart horse and I will forever cherish the memories and legacy he carries! He was a fan to many! – Suzannah R.Afghan NTF (Taka) doing a musical freestyle with me – Alice M.Mr. P (Peanut) my halflinger I rescued last fall. He is doing intro and doing amazing! Just did his first UDSF/USEF recognized show and got a qualifying score for Regionals! He is so willing never gets mad, such a solid little guy. Having an absolute blast with him! His dressage future looks great! – Roxanne M.This is Tonka, aka Mein Liebling, my rescue Haflinger pony. Since he is a rescue, he doesn’t have Haflinger papers. However, we have been lucky enough to attend an American Warmblood inspection and become registered. Tonka has been my partner for about six years. Outside of Dressage, we event and do the jumpers. He also comes to work with me, which is his favorite activity. I am a mental health therapist, and he joins me for equine assisted Psychotherapy sessions! My clients adore him, and so do I. Photo by Josa Comstock Photography – Emma K.This is my Haflinger Roush ❤️ – AnikaMy lease horse Angel’s Envy (aka Wally)! Wally is a big personality in a little body. He always keeps me guessing. – Lindsey R.Here’s my Hafie “Bossi” (Showname: Rainhof’s Bosse); he’s a 13yr old Hafi! We’re planning on showing PSG this year! 🤍 What makes Hafis special is that despite of their cute appearance they can be actually tricky to ride 🤣 But once you figure them out they’ll go through fire with you! I love them! Bossi & I are both from Austria and moved to the states a few years ago! 🤍 – Christine V.A Windy Rozene MHS 2010 Halflinger Mare (ALPENSTEIN x MAIRAUSCH) Owned and Loved by Laura McCall, Ridden here by Suzannah Wise of Rockford, Michigan. – Suzannah W.FKA Prince. Prince is a halflinger Belgium cross that came from the Amish in spring of 2022. He belongs to Janine Fierberg and is five years old this year. He had quite the show season winning the Region 2 jr/yr training level championship, placing 3rd in the open freestyle championship, and 4th in the first level championship. He was national pony cup 4yo futurity winner, training level champion, yr freestyle champion, and was qualified for usdf dressage finals before I got injured. He has exceeded all of my expectations of halflingers and I am very thankful to be able to help develop him. – Abbie T.– Ashlyn P.This is my Haflinger, Abercrombie of Deer Haven (“Crumble”), who just did his first PSG this summer. I worked at a Haflinger farm for a few years after college and have loved the breed since I was a teenager. This breed is special to me because they are smart, versatile, and full of personality. Crumble makes me laugh every day. He is worth his weight in gold because he is the most hardworking school horse in the barn as well as my show horse. Since he gives lessons to all ages/abilities throughout the week, I ride him only 2-3 times per week. A few hours after his first PSG test where he earned a 62%, he went back in the ring to do a leadline test with a 5 year old student. Afterwards, he soaks up the attention from his fan club and automatically poses for photos! ♥️ And THAT’S why this breed is so special. – Emilie G.My Haflinger, Stanley, and I. I purchased him for $1 because he had dumped everyone else who had tried to ride him. When I got him at age 8, he only had one lead and couldn’t/wouldn’t do a circle. He would pick a spot in the arena each ride and when we got to that spot, he would stop dead and rest. It has taken a good amount of patience and work on both our parts to establish the relationship we have today. Much like his rider, he has strong opinions which he expresses freely. He’s honest, hardworking and dependable. He’s done a bit of everything and at age 21, we went out this weekend and got our first scores for our USDF bronze medal. If you’re looking for a dependable, versatile, capable horse who will never be boring, you’re looking for a Haflinger! – Sally C.
