The Adequan®/USDF FEI-Level Trainers Conference is an invaluable event to attend and learn from, but unfortunately we can’t all be there. So USDF and YourDressage has you covered with this series of quick takeaways from the 2023 Trainers Conference, featuring Henk van Bergen, Linda Zang, Lilo Fore, and David Hunt!

In this clip, Henk van Bergen discusses the difference between correction, a necessary tool in training, and punishment, an ‘absolutely not necessary’ action. Correction can be applied in a number of effective ways – in this clip, the correction is to wait until the horse is waiting for the rider’s cue to change as opposed to asking for the change when the horse is anticipating the change.
