Submitted by Winter Thorington: Foxwood’s Farris (AQHA Showboat’s Snap to It) and I have earned our USDF Bronze and Silver Medals together. We just competed at the 2024 Great American/ USDF Region 3 Dressage Championships at Fourth Level, and in the Open PSG scoring a 65.5. Possibly looking to add a couple scores toward our Gold soon. This pony has so much heart and holds his own against the warmbloods.

Did you know that dressage riders who choose a Quarter Horse as their dressage mount are eligible for special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards program, as the American Quarter Horse Association is a participating organization?
My mid-twenties Appendix QH, The Revenant (Brees) I rescued in 2019. He’s not able to compete past Intro tests due to his navicular, but I just love going into the arena with him. He has made me a lifelong lover of Quarter Horses, especially an Appendix! 🥰🥰 – Morgan F.My boy Jedi Registered AQHA but he’s appendix! Coolest horse around. Already schooling Third level at 5yrs old! – Sierra C. Note, USDF strongly recommends all riders wear protective headgear when mounted. My boy Assets are HotNBlazin, aka Cal. Got him at 4 & now 13. Interesting journey with Cal, off & on lame with work-up showing subchondral bone cyst. Underwent surgery at UGA & now headed to his 1st Dressage test! He is amazing! Dressage pics are coming ❤️
– Scarlett S.“Whatever She’s Havin” AQHA mare. Currently leading the all Breeds awards for First Level! – Sarah C.Suntan Lotion aka Rainy was Training Level Champion at the AQHA World Show in 2021 and was Reserve in 2023 at First Level. She’s a Blazing Hot out of a Real Bonanza mare who is a Full double, and excels in Western Dressage and the Ranch Classes as well.
– Carrie W.Freckles Little High. Our 9 year old. We’ve owned him since he had just turned 4 years old. He’s cow bred and has done barrel racing, hunters, eventing, and now they are just getting started dancing together for dressage. He’s the best boy and is down for anything for his girl. These two are quite the team and we’re looking forward to this discipline.
– Mandy W.Mae Be A Smoothie, a 2002 Quarter Horse – a dream come true as my first horse and heart horse. I purchased Smoothie in 2012 and cherished until his passing from too soon from colic in 2021. As my first horse, Smoothie taught me so much about riding, but also about the high highs and low lows of horse ownership. He was a constant companion through many major life events and will forever leave behind a 16hh chestnut hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him ❤️ – Morgan H.Sjoerd Lionheart is my 12yo 50/50 Friesian/QH Cross which seems to be a very popular cross at the moment! His sire is the Hall of Fame Stallion Sjoerd Lionheart and he was my DREAM horse! I did not know his breeding when I got him as he was “dropped in my lap” and I had given up at every making it in dressage again. I have never met a horse so smart and engaged. We have been together two years and have competed AA both years without a coach or trainer and made it to Regionals each time! We are now looking at branching out into Working Equitation as well as continuing our dressage journey.
– Ashley C.Pretty Flashy Dude – ‘dude’ for short. Coming into my life in 2006 we got him as a yearling. Flash forward to now, he is the glue that holds my lesson program together. From being the 1st horse I put changes on to earning my silver medal, this horse has shaped me into who I am today. He is retired from fei life and is happily teaching the juniors and AAs the ropes of dressage. ❤️❤️❤️ – Kristen C.Count Me Blessed (appendix out of Chips Count Chocula).. 22 year old gelding on his retirement career from being a hunter. We led training level in aqha last year. I keep forgetting to turn my paperwork in time for usdf for year end awards 😅

– Corinthia L.Love a good quarter horse!
My 6 yr old – Old Blue Hancock
– Laura G.my princess unicorn!! We even made it to Nationals in KY that year with our trainer, Keri Erickson – Erin S.Gibson is a grade quarter horse and just competed at the Region 5 championships at first and second level and was in the ribbons in every class of over 20 horses! We are now working on third level for next year. He is so smart and such a joy to ride! Photo by Una Schade Photography and Design – Nadia C.Godzilla Nightmare, aka Sully, 2012 off track QH. This boy is SUPER opinionated but I wouldn’t trade him for the world. We’ve worked so hard and he’s come so far… from barely knowing how to canter to schooling First/Second level movements.
– Lindsay G.My husband’s former rope horse turned little dressage star at 18-years-old: Westco Blue Scottie aka Blue. He broke 70% during his first ever show with me in May. We lost him in July to bacterial complications after a 360-degree colon rotation. The most devastating loss we’ve ever experienced. He was one in a million, and was beginning to school Third Level prior to the colic. Hancock bred. 💙 – Madelyn H.Minuet In Blue
My 2018 AQHA mare. Started her a a three year old for a client, ended up buying her when she was 5. We hit the show ring for the first time this year. This mare has always been level headed beyond her years and one everyone forgets is still a baby. She’s happily stepped into the role of lesson horse this summer and has become a wonderful partner
– Alysa B.Kway is a 15 year old QH x TWH that I bought out of someone’s backyard in northern MN 8 years ago. She’s my first horse, my best friend, and in less than 2 weeks we’ll go down our first regionals centerline together doing 1st and 2nd level ❤️
– Paige S.My best boy The Boss. He started out as a ranch/pack horse and pranced his way up to I-1 successfully. We worked with some of the top coaches and my favorite memory was Conrad Schumacher saying “ he was the best moving quarter horse he’s ever worked with “ 🥰 – Brandy J.Gimmie Samoa Cookies 2008 Bay roan mare competed successfully through PSG. we’ve gone up through the levels together and she’s earned me my bronze and silver medals.wdaa world champion. Multiple aqha high point award winner in dressage . I bought her as a yearling from the breeder. We showed the all around on the aqha circuit for years before switching to dressage. Aqha versatility award winner( this is pretty rare) She’s lived up to the versatility of the breed . She’s won ranch riding, showmanship, trail, equation, horsemanship, and extreme trail challenges, shown at the Congress and noviced me out of most aqha classes. Trail rides like a champ on non training days. She’s a lovely soul. Quarter horses CAN do dressage! Lexi has her own fan club here on the East coast which is hard to explain but WAY cool. 🥰 she’s a special mare and my heart horse for sure.
