This video is presented by the USDF Historical Recognition Committee and features an excerpt from the presentation to posthumously induct Carol Lavell into the Roemer Foundation/USDF Hall of Fame. You can see the full video of her induction on the YourDressage YouTube page here. USDF President George Williams led the presentation, with Carol’s longtime friend Pam Goodrich accepting on Carol’s behalf. This presentation was held at the 2024 USDF Salute Gala & Annual Awards Banquet, held at the Adequan®/USDF Annual Convention in Houston, TX in December.

Carol was recognized for not only her accomplishments in the dressage ring, but her passion for helping students achieve their dreams. Although Carol was a respected competitor (including being a decorated Olympian), instructor, clinician, and judge, Carol’s nominator Jenny Johnson, Executive Director of The Dressage Foundation, shared her take on Carol’s true lasting legacy. “I believe that Carol’s greatest impact and legacy for our sport goes beyond her inspiring rides on the world’s biggest stages. What she did for the sport behind the scenes has bolstered her legacy to unmatched heights. Through her generosity, Carol has made a lasting impact on dressage in our country that will carry on for generations,” Jenny shared.

It was our honor to induct her into the Hall of Fame, where she joins her longtime mount, Gifted.
