Back in February, we shared a story called From Kill Pen to Champion: Noodle the Wonder Pony, where we learned about the bond between a Region 9 rider and the unicorn she rescued from the kill pen – a Cremello gelding she named “The Noodle Doodle!”
Unfortunately, Noodle suffered a traumatic pasture injury, resulting in hospitalization and ongoing rehab. Though he returned home on Tuesday, September 30th, Noodle’s comeback story has just begun.

What started as a simple wound turned into a tendon sheath injury with infection, leading to being hospitalized, then a few months in rehab, further treatments, and bills that have quickly piled up.
If you know Noodle, you know he isn’t just my horse; he’s everyone’s, but more importantly, he’s Adira’s. He’s the one everyone falls in love with — the trusty steed all the kiddos and beginners who come over ride, the horse who greets you with a kind eye at the gate, and has broken the mold on kill pen stereotypes. He’s been a teacher, a partner, and a best friend.
Noodle’s journey has never been an easy one. He came from a kill pen, unwanted and overlooked, literally on death’s doorstep, and fought his way back to become the scrappy little winner he is today. In every ring he’s stepped into, he’s shown heart, grit, and a will to keep trying. That same spirit is what’s carrying him through this fight now.
I’m doing everything I can to give Noodle the best chance at a full recovery, but the costs are more than I can cover alone. Our sweet Noodle needs help with paying his vet bills so I can continue his rehab.
