Submitted by Lauren Bish: My daughter's 7 year old 13.3 hand grade pony we bought from an auction at 2 years old for $650. She is 12, and has worked with him since we bought him. He's the best boy and loves his job. This was their first canter test together at Starter level this year. She battled the left lead for the longest time, to finally find out he had a fusing hock. After some work with the vet he's been getting it every time now, and shes able to canter a test with a smile now. She has big goals with him, and they have such a great bond. Get Your Hans off and Piper ❤️
This July, we are highlighting “Small But Mighty” breeds on YourDressage!
We asked our social media followers to share a photo of their favorite pony, and tell us a little about them, for a chance to be featured in an upcoming gallery or to share a story about their partnership with the YourDressage community.
Riders who choose a pint-sized partner as their dressage mount could be eligible for special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards program, as there are a number of pony breed organizations that are participating organizations.
Ffrewyn Iconic (aka Nicky) 4 yr old Welch cob stallion. Champion for usdf breed show at dressage at Devon for 3 yr old colts and geldings ponies. Showing to be quite promising in the dressage show ring. Susan J Stickle Photography – Wendy G.Hello, I’d like to share my heart pony Bubba – Mr. Boombastic. We are spending the summer with Lendon Gray and D4K in the SIT program and learn so much. Bubba is a super pony learning so much dressage and getting better every day. He’s the coolest Norwegian Fjord who wins the hearts of everyone he meets! He also does eventing and breaks down stereotypes that ponies like him can’t physically do this type of work. Bubba is my superstar! This is him at D4K recently! – Sofia T.How it started vs How it’s going: Haflinger edition!👑 Bought my guy a few years back for $900 as an untouched 4-year-old (top pic is his first ride!). We were both total beginners to dressage, but with a phenomenal coach, we’ve learned the ropes together. Today, we are officially competing at Second Level. He really is a mighty athlete in a snack-sized package and I am so very proud of him! Cavalli Photography (bottom image) – Arron W. He is an 18 year old paint/quarter horse. Dressage is his passion and his 2nd career. He has a heart of gold to match his color and turns heads wherever he goes! I am so proud of this little boy and what we have taught each other these last 2 years! From barely getting through a training level test at the start of 2024 to competing at dressage finals 2024 and pony cup 2025 and now showing second level this boy loves his job and gives it his all.
