The honorable Holsteiner! We will be celebrating these horses as our April Breed of the Month on YourDressage!
We recently asked our followers to share a photo of their favorite Holsteiner or Holsteiner cross on our social media pages, and tell us a little about them, for a chance to be featured in an upcoming gallery right here! Check back all month long, as we shares stories from folks who love this breed.
Did you know that dressage riders who choose a Holsteiner as their dressage mount are eligible for special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards program, as the Holsteiner Verband-North American Breeding District (Holsteiner Verband) is a participating organization?
My Holsteiner, Lucianno. 😀🐴💖 – Susan G.Dolarento (barn name OSCAR) by Dolany out of Windsong (LeSanto) – he is a 2018 and is my 17.3 baby. He’s as cuddly as a mastiff and loves his ear rubs and is brilliantly talented! Plan to start showing 1st level this year. I rode his mom for almost 2 yrs and then bought him! We’ve been partners for the past 2 1/2 yrs. And yes- he did dress up as Oscar the Grouch for our Halloween Show- he really should be sainted for putting up with me 😉 Heidi G.Chancellor WAS is a 2007 Holsteiner gelding (Cathalido x Jomez (Columbus)) bred by Walkabout Station. There’s horses you learn things from and then there’s heart horses who can change who you are as a person. – Erika N. Note, USDF strongly recommends all riders wear protective headgear when mounted I purchased Chancellor as a 2yro thinking he’d be a resale project. Didn’t take long before I had to accept that he was just going to be family forever. Went to young horse championships as a 4yro (finished 12th) multiple trips to US Dressage Finals competing through PSG and earning lots of regional and national awards before medical issues sidelined him for a few years. Now back competing PSG with my assistant trainer and schooling the I2. – Erika N.All the competitive success he’s had doesn’t hold a candle to the way he connects with his people and offers up every part of himself to every thought you have every day. Truly a once in a lifetime horse. – Erika N.The best horses! Here is our wonderful Holsteiner, WT Lionidas and junior rider Emily Zablah. – Anna Z.Registered Canadian WB but 100% Holsteiner mare! She’s so athletic and smart! – Nicole R.We have the sweetest one at our barn! – Ashley S.My 12 year old Holsteiner, Carter, sired by Cabardino. Love the breed. – Hermi Z.My all time favorite Holsteiner gelding, River Run Roscoe! He helped me earn my USDF Gold medal! He has gone down centerline 160 times and helped 5 other riders earn their USDF Gold medal! His last show was Intermediate I at the age of 25. He’s still teaching my students what piaffe feels like! – Jennifer M.My backyard bred frankenpony Ava (welsh/holsteiner/appaloosa cross). – Michelle C.
