Submitted by Kelsie Goodare: This is my Holsteiner gelding Carli 13, aka Carl. He is 10 years old and my best friend. I got him back in September of 2022 to be my eventing partner, he had done a few 2* events so he is a been-there-done-that kinda guy. We decided to do some dressage shows as well and the judges loved him. We were only doing First Level but he went through the tests like it was nothing. We ended up qualifying for the Great American Insurnace Group/USDF Region 2 Dressage Championships, and won the First Level Junior division on a 71% - which qualified us for the US Dressage Finals! We also attended the American Eventing Championships at the Beginner Novice Jr division and placed first! He is incredibly talented and has the best work ethic I have ever seen in a horse! He has taught me so much and allowed me to go places I never thought were possible! Before I got Carl I never really thought of the Holsteiner breed but now I am in love with them! They are such an amazing breed and are so versatile!
The honorable Holsteiner! We will be celebrating these horses as our April Breed of the Month on YourDressage!
We recently asked our followers to share a photo of their favorite Holsteiner or Holsteiner cross on our social media pages, and tell us a little about them, for a chance to be featured in an upcoming gallery right here! Check back all month long, as we shares stories from folks who love this breed.
Did you know that dressage riders who choose a Holsteiner as their dressage mount are eligible for special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards program, as the Holsteiner Verband-North American Breeding District (Holsteiner Verband) is a participating organization?
