Submitted by Jessica Saucier: Jimmy (JC: Run for James) is a 2014 OTTB that was a rockstar racehorse and was supposed to be my next event horse, but due to some physical issues from his track days was recommended to flat only (even if he can jump feet off the ground from a standstill). I bought him anyways (because of course I did) and have learned so much in our time together so far. He's the definition of quirky, but has made me all the better horsewoman because of it ❤️ He tries so hard to do everything asked of him, and all he wants in return is muzzle kisses and eye rubs. Pictured here is from his first off property show last year!
We recently asked our social media followers to share a photo of their favorite Thorughbred or Thoroughbred cross, and tell us a little about them, for a chance to be featured on YourDressage, and we are so excited to share all the photos we received highlighting this versatile breed! If you have a tenacious Thoroughbred you’d like to share, send us an email at yourdressage@usdf.org.
Did you know… Dressage riders who compete with a member of this speedy breed are eligible for special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards program, as The Jockey Club is a participating organization!

He was originally a jumper, but we’ve been partners for 9 years now when I purchased him to be my next eventing partner. While he loves to jump, the last few years he’s asked to slow down the jumping and we’ve turned our attention more to our dressage work. Finishing our last season at first level with awards in our local Maine clubs and aged horse division. We’re hoping to get back out there as the season starts and keep going together! – Emily C.This is my boy Major Spin aka Clifford! He is an 8 year old OTTB. I adopted him from Stall 13 Thoroughbreds in November 2025. He has an old fracture/injury in his left knee. Stall 13 purchased him off the track, let him rest/recover, and then put him back to work in dressage. I never thought I would own a OTTB, but this has been everything I need and more! He has the best personality and is such a goofball. He works so hard to please and I’m enjoying learning along with him ❤️ – Cassie H.Brolic 2012 OTTB – barn name Righ at our first MDHT Highland Series starter trial at Loch Moy Farm! – Erica H.My young OTTB Isn’t she Khozy (Khozy) who had some down time off the track followed by lots of ground work. She will be getting under saddle shortly. Khozy is super athletic and she has the funniest personality. I think she will make a super flashy dressage prospect but also I would love to event her! 🤩 – Elevare EquestrianNotable One is our 11 year old OTTB that we got from his original breeder 4 years ago. He only had 3 starts but didn’t have much success. His breeder/owner took him back home and turned him out until we got him. Raced 39 times in 4 years. I bought him sight unseen as a 7 year old for $750 right before he was headed to the processing plant. Just last year I got my bronze…he got me all of my qualifying scores in 3 years. And hopefully we can get our silver together.
