Submitted by Jess I. - This is Patrick Tigchelaar riding Susan Ralston’s Trakehner gelding “O’Captain” to a 70%+ victory in the small tour at Devon last fall! He’s one of the most athletic and photogenic horses in our barn and we love everything about him!!
Renowned for its floating trot, the Trakehner is one of the lightest & most refined warmbloods. We are celebrating this breed as our March Breed of the Month on
Did you know that dressage riders who choose Trakehners as their mounts are eligible for special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All Breeds Awards program, as the
American Trakehner Association and the Trakehner Association of North America (TANA) are both participating organizations?

This is my trakehner mare Danza P. I love trakehner horses and she has been so athletic and talented in every discipline I’ve tried with her! I used to event mainly TBs but I sort of fell into owning her and that’s when I learned dressage can be fun and amazing! My husband has even hopped on her in an emergency to go catch loose cattle on our Texas Ranch and she was calm, athletic and did a great job running them down! – Shelly G.

What’s not to love? I fell in love with the sport of Dressage on a Trakehner and even showed to a National level on one. My pride and joy is Cinderella, “Ella”, (Tradition x Carmine (Tolstoi)) who recently went Premium with the Trakehner Association of North America (TANA) – she has the most amazing gaits, a gorgeous head and just the absolutely sweetest, snuggliest personality! I was introduced by Heather at Sovereign Farm – an incredibly knowledgeable Trakehner breeder, who has been a guide to me every step of the way. I’ve fallen head over heels in love with this breed and just how athletic and graceful they are. I’m very thankful to her, and the opportunity to be a steward of the breed myself ❤ IFYKYK -Kate F.
