The 2023 Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional Dressage Championships are right around the corner! Riders from all nine regions are making their final preparations before heading down centerline. Here are some important updates and reminders as we prepare for the 2023 championship season.
Qualification Criteria
To qualify for a Regional Championship, horse/rider combinations must earn a total of two qualifying scores, at two different USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized Dressage Competitions, from two different judges, or combination of judges. Complete 2023 Program Rules are available on the USDF website.
Riding in a Different Region?
Riders choosing to compete at a Regional Championship outside their home region, must submit a change of region form. It’s not too late to compete at a Regional Championship other than your home region by completing the Change of Region Form, and submitting the appropriate late fee. All persons living outside of the United States, who intend to compete in a Regional Championship, must submit a Change of Region form and applicable fee. Change of Region Forms are accepted up to the closing date of the championship region the rider is declaring for.
How to Get Your Qualifying Scores
Qualifying scores do not have to be earned within a rider’s home region or the region in which they plan to compete in a Regional Championship, but they must be earned within the qualifying period for the championship the rider is to compete in. The competition must also be a 2023 qualifying competition.
Great Opportunity For Adult Amateurs
All adult amateurs who are qualified for the Great American/USDF Regional Championships in non-freestyle classes are automatically eligible to compete in the Adult Amateur Regional Equitation Finals presented by Big Dee’s Tack and Vet Supply.
And An Exciting Opportunity for Junior Riders
Juniors who are qualified for the Great American/USDF Regional Championships in non-freestyle classes are automatically eligible to compete in the USDF Dressage Seat Medal Semi-Finals.
Planning to attend the 2023 US Dressage Finals Presented by Adequan®?
Horse/rider combinations who, if qualified, intend to compete at the 2023 US Dressage Finals presented by Adequan® must submit a declaration by midnight the day prior to the start of their Regional Championship competition.
For the third year, there will be national-level junior/young rider (non-freestyle) classes at the US Dressage Finals. Riders intending to qualify for Finals must also submit a declaration by midnight the day prior to the start of their Regional Championship competition.
