Submitted by Kristina H. - My Hanoverian Winzer 207, better known as Goose, is an amateur dream horse. He can go from schooling 4th level one day to giving pony rides to a complete beginner the next. He has the best mind of any horse I ever worked with, and every day he lives up to his nickname of “The Golden Goose”.

Hanoverians are our YourDressage Breed of the Month for March!  This breed originated in Germany, and is one of the oldest and most numerous of the Warmblood breeds.  Hanoverians are known for their good temperament, athleticism, beauty, and grace.

Dressage enthusiasts who ride Hanoverians have the opportunity to earn special awards through the Adequan®/USDF All-Breeds Awards as The American Hanoverian Society is a Participating Organization

We recently asked our social media followers to share photos of their Hanoverians, and let us know what makes this breed so special. Below, you can see their photos and stories.  Keep an eye out for the second part of this gallery at the end of March 2021!

Submitted by Brittany C. – This is Zeus! I love him for many reasons but mostly for his amazing temperament
Submitted by Carol C. – Weltson, WeltbekanntxVienna Waltz… such a forgiving and generous beast. Competed to I1 before we discovered cardiac issues that required a less stressful life.
Submitted by Carol R. – Fuerst Olivia by Fuerst Romancier out of Finalee. Livvy is my living, breathing dream horse. She is fiery and a challenge, but in the ring or on the trail, I could never ask for more!

Submitted by Colleen H. – Danato 16 year old Hanoverian that I have owned since he was 2. We have shown through I1 in spite of him having undergone 3 surgeries on his face. I am very blessed to own and ride such a strong beautiful animal.
Submitted by Daphne P. – I bought my dream horse 5 years ago: Lady Godiva, aka Liszy. Although I was not looking for a horse, she crossed my path and I just could not resist. She has an amazing personality (yes, and she is a chestnut mare!), willing, athletic and elegant.. what more can I ask for?
Submitted by Deborah B. – Baltimore. He’s a kind boy who tries hard for me!
Submitted by Don K. – This is our first Hanoverian mare, Brimming, sired by Banter (Bolero/Grande/Duellant) and out of Abundance (Adroit/Akzent I/Ceylon), who was bred by George and Catherine Walker. She produced 13 offspring, 9 were fillies. Eight of those were Elite Mares/Hanoverian Premium Mares and one Elite Eligible Mare. Her offspring have gone on to win at all levels of dressage and are now producing another generation of ‘Brimmings’. Such a prolific broodmare, who passed along her trainability as well as her excellent conformation (form to function). She is the main reason we are breeding Hanoverians today at OBX Farm.
Submitted by Elizabeth L. – Wisteria Lane (Whispering Hope) by Weltbekannt out of an M-line mare…she was not what I ever wanted, but she has been the most amazing horse. I count my blessings every day with her.
Submitted by Erin T. – Empress Ebony PF by Escudo I (foaled 2017). She is my first young, unbroke horse and has been nothing but amazing to work with. She is kind, willing, forgiving, and ready to work, everything I could have asked for. It will be 1 year in July that we have been together and I look forward to the years to come. (Sorry, no show pictures yet for this youngster)

Submitted by Heather R. – My heart horse Windsor. I bought him for $1 because he’d been diagnosed with navicular and was no longer useful in the riding school lesson program. A good farrier got him sound (it wasn’t navicular), and he ended up taking me to the USDF junior/young rider team championship in 2001.

I have always been astonished by the ride-ability of the horses she produces! Grateful to have 2 amazing Hanoverians in my life. Pictured here is Perazzi DS he is out of Prince Thatch who came into our life Mid-August because our amazing trainer knew this would be a wonderful home for him with Jen Barrett and I along with our cousin. This guy is teaching us so much and we are incredibly blessed he came into our lives when he did! Looking forward to teaching the tricks Perazzi is showing us to my Young Hanoverian mare Fallon FH in the future
Submitted by Liz H. – This is my beloved US Bred, Sir Lancelot, a turning 12 yo Hanoverian. I have had him since he was 1. He is a wonderful horse who should be making his FEI debut this year. He is very tolerant of my AA riding. He has a fabulous brain, and when ridden well, amazing ability.
